Get to Know the Triangle
Getting to know a new place can be really fun, but it can also be overwhelming and difficult to know where to even start. Luckily our church's mentors have been around for a little while and many of us graduated from UNC or State! If you're new to one of the triangle schools, or just looking to branch out a little more, here are some of our staff's favorite spots around the area.
Tabitha, NC State c/o 2023: Fun DipPot, Raleigh
"Fun DipPot is basically a build-your-own hotpot place right by NC State's campus. I like Fun DipPot because its a pay for what you want to eat spot: you can walk out with a cheap, good meal or an expensive one, but regardless its delicious! If you have ever enjoyed hotpot but complained about what came in it, it's literally the place of your dreams."
Jeanie, UNC c/o 2021: H Mart, Cary
"My favorite place in NC is H Mart, a Korean grocery store in Cary, NC. What makes this place amazing is that it has everything you might need or want as a foodie—a bomb meal at the food court, groceries for later, and lots of new things to try. A one-stop shop for food, groceries, and boba/coffee. Cary is also a really nice town nearby if you need some new surroundings. Highly recommend!"
Caleb, UNC c/o 2021: Falls Lake, NC
"I love spending time at Falls Lake because it’s the perfect mix of peace, nature, and adventure. Whether I’m out fishing on the water, sitting quietly by the shore, or just taking in the trees and open sky, it’s one of the few places where everything slows down. The calmness of the lake, the sounds of nature, and the simplicity of being outdoors make it a place where I can recharge and enjoy the beauty of creation."
Unique, NC State c/o 2023: The Can Opener, Durham
“A food truck park that has good food (like bulgogi kimchi fries), music and vibes! It's a great place to study, bring friends, and fall into a random trivia night if you stay there long enough.”
Honorable Mention: Cook Out, Chapel Hill
Chapel Hill got a Cook Out while I was a student at UNC. As a small town North Carolina native, this was huge. It did not disappoint. Cook Out is a favorite of our students and mentors alike for late night snacks (whole meals) and milkshakes.
